Child care
A lot of students have a hard time finding day care for their babies (between 0 and 2,5 years) while they are in class. The House of Dutch can assist them in this.
If you wish to apply for child care, Katrien Van Steenkiste at the House can help. Please call to make an appointment 09 235 26 74 (not on Mondays).
Be sure to bring : your ID-card
your child’s SIS-card (if it has already been born)
1. Cooperation with the Child Care Services of the City of Ghent (DIKO) :
All city day care centres have a certain number of places reserved for children with a mother or father taking Dutch classes. The House will place the children based on the application date; There is a minimum waiting time of 6 months, in other words, the sooner you apply, the sooner a place can be found.
- parents pay based on their income.
- Child care is possible only during Dutch classes.
- we will look for a day care centre close to your home or the school you go to
2. In-House day care projects:
This cooperation with the Independent Service for Foster families (Partena) allows us to organise our own child care during Dutch classes in Babelhuisje (The little House of Babel) and in Villa Kakelbont (Villa Criesalot). The House will take care of the rent and the furnishings for both locations as well as placing the children. The Independent Service for Foster Families will maintain the quality of the care and take care of all administrative issues.
- parents pay according to their income.
- Child care is possible only during Dutch classes
- both are located close to the Kongostraat and Dok Noord, where most Dutch classes take place.
